Layer Selection Options
Allows selection of layers by multiple
category/component
naming system.
Allows selection from a defined layer group.
Imports layers from the current drawing.
Allows selection of layers by searching names and descriptions.
Layer List Functions
(Right-Click menu on layers in Layer List)
Sets the highlighted layer as the current layer upon creation.
Removes selected (highlighted) layers from the list.
Changes the highlighted layer to a new color.
Load Linetype
Loads a selected linetype into the drawing.
The
OK
button is used to create the new layers or make any changes to existing layers in the
current drawing. That is, no new layers are created or existing layers modified until the dialog is
exited by clicking
OK
.
The CAD Standards Manager Administration module allows the addition of a prefix and/or suffix
to extend layer names. If this feature has been enabled within a discipline the CSM Layer
Creation Dialog will show additional commands at the bottom as shown in the figure above. See

Importing Layers into the Layer List

The Layer List is blank when the dialog is first activated. The process of adding layers begins by

or interchangeably during the same session. For example, the user might want to include an
entire group of layers from a discipline. The
By Group
option allows this to be accomplished
quickly. The
By Category
option allows layer selection by individual category components.
Once layers have been selected and added to the Layer List make modifications such as
changing the color and screening or adding a prefix and/or suffix. Modifications can be made to
individual layers or in certain cases to the entire list of layers. Finally once the appropriate layers
have been selected and any necessary modifications have been made, the
OK
button adds or
updates these layers in the current drawing.
Note: For quick layer creation the Layer List can be skipped altogether. Simply use one
of the four layer selection options to highlight layers then click the OK button. The
highlighted layers will automatically be created and the dialog exited.
